Travel tips: Getting around in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is big and bustling – and let’s face it – sometimes it can be a chore to get around Sin City. Yet even if the big convention or championship boxing match is in town, savvy visitors can find their way. Here’s an insider’s guide to getting around Las Vegas.

If you arrive by plane, a taxi ride to a Strip hotel (where most of the major theme resorts are located) will cost $1020, and to a downtown hotel $2030, depending on the route taken and the time of day. Airport shuttle fares cost $8 to Strip hotels. They’re excellent value for money and can be found immediately on your right as you exit the baggage reclaim area. The ticket office is on your left. In addition, most major hotels run shuttles to and from the airport.

If you’re sticking to the main drag, the monorail will be the fastest bet. However, the bus service Citizens Area Transit (CAT) has a 24-hour service on the Strip and Downtown, plus 40 other routes that operate 5.30am1.30am daily. For information about routes and schedules, call 702-228 7433.

The Monorail – www.lvmonorail.com

Prices: Single ride ticket $5; 10-ride ticket $35 (one ride equals one trip of any distance); one-day ticket $15, valid for unlimited travel for any 24-hour period; three-day ticket $40, valid for 72 hours from first use. Automated ticket machines can be found at all the stops and some of the resorts.

Hours: 7am2am daily.

The $650 million monorail opened in 2004 and is a happy, if somewhat flawed, way to get around. In fact, most times it is by far the fastest way to travel from one part of the Strip to another. The monorail grew from an original transit venture between the MGM Grand and Bally’s Hotel in 1993. The Las Vegas Monorail Company, which owns the new transit service, was created in 2000 as a non-profit corporation and now owns the original monorail system.

Monorails come every six minutes and whisk you along to your destination, avoiding the horrid traffic of the Strip. There are two niggles about the monorail service. First, when it opened in 2004 a single fare was only $3, but this was raised in 2007 to $5, which makes it far less of a bargain than originally. Second, all the stops are poorly marked, often difficult to find, and they are also in the very back of each property. This means you must do a lot of walking through these massive resorts to get there, then another long walk to get to where you want.

It effectively runs on the east side of the Strip from the MGM Grand

The Law of Attraction and Manifesting

Law of Attraction is a school of thought which came up in the late 19th century. The theory believes in identification of ones aim and thinking towards its fulfillment. Thinking, according to the Law of Attraction, does not merely mean intensive thinking about the goal, but its realization. The Law of Attraction also states that we are capable of bringing about remarkable changes in our lives, by through effective thought management and rightful utilization of our positive energies.

The law of attraction has exploded in popularity in the last few years, with hundreds of thousands of people reading books, articles, and any little tidbit they can get their hands on, and they have been realizing that the secret law of attraction can truly improve their lives for the better.

But the fatal flaw that the majority of these people make is they think that the secret law of attraction doesnt take any work on their part. They think that if theyre really good at manifesting their thoughts into reality, they dont have to do any work the universe will wait on them hand and foot.This isnt true! The law of attraction does not let you get out of working hard for your dreams! Nothing will replace good, old fashioned hard work. The secret laws of attraction will not get you out of working.

When you use the secret law of attraction and harness the power of the universe, you open doors for yourself. You get opportunities that you wouldn’t otherwise have by stepping forward in faith. In order to achieve your dreams, you must take opportunity, and allow the universe to lead you towards happiness, wealth, power, love whatever your dream is.

For example.

A mans girlfriend needs to get her car fixed. Its going to cost $500.00 dollars. The man says, If I win the lottery, Im going to get my girlfriends car fixed. He could go get the car fixed now, but his argument is that he only has $1,000.00 in the bank it would take half of his savings just to get the car fixed, and what if he needs to get his car fixed after that?

That is not the right way to use the law of attraction instead, in order to properly use the power of the universe and take full advantage of the law , you must pay for your girlfriends car to be fixed forst and then opportunities will arise that you must seize as they are presented to you, and then you will truly be able to use the law of attraction. You will be able to live your dreams. How much ‘belief’ in this thing do you really have though?

“Manifesting implies making evident or proving the presence of something. The word, commonly associated with the new age and new thought theories, refers to a sense of faith for ones will, mental integrity and power that is capable of translating all of ones dreams into reality. Manifesting is one of the principal credos in the Law of Attraction.

The Law of Attraction points out that human mind has a general tendency to crave for more, to reach for the unreachable and gain the maximum in life. Quite often, this is not possible because of circumstantial reasons, but mostly it is the mental laxity which is responsible. The inability to realize ones true end in life is also a potential reason. The Law of Attraction aims at resolving all of these issues by manifesting. The theory helps you to understand the goal of your life and then provides the means to attain it. According to the Law of Attraction, it is only when an individual has this knowledge of their goal in life that they are able to move towards achieving it. So, spend some quiet time on a chair by yourself for 10 or 15 minutes close your eyes and ask your ‘self’, “What am I ‘meant’ to be doing”, take note of what comes into you consciousness. This can be somewhat scary, but it helps you to understand and therefore, to see reality more clearly and manifest the things to help you fulfill your purpose..

When you realise what your purpose is you will be on a course of action to materialize your dreams. This happens as your thoughts to reach the goal attract the means to attain it. Manifesting is one of the key factors that contribute to the immense popularity of the Law of Attraction. It is only through Manifesting that the simple cause and effect characteristic of the Law of Attraction is most clearly explained.

Terrific Ways to Find Good Restaurants

Are you fed up of the usual stuff offered by the restaurants that you normally frequent? Want to try new ones? Well, try the different ways given below to find good restaurants.

* Public media
Public media such as Newspapers, Television, Radio carry reviews and recommendations about restaurants in the locality, which also includes info on menus, price ranges, cuisine, ambience and so on. They also rate these restaurants based on user reviews. But there is a chance of it being biased.

* Recommendations from family and friends

But this also has its limitations as they can provide only very little info about the restaurants that they’ve visited. Moreover they cannot comment on all the restaurants in town.

* Internet search engines
Generic search engines provide some info on restaurants. Since, they are powered by keyword based technology; they fetch vast amounts of data mixed with a lot of irrelevant content. So, it’s a hectic task to select the right restaurant.

* Review sites
These are no doubt a good source of information providing both professional as well as user reviews. The basic drawback could be one could just be referring to a few review sites and they don’t cover all the local restaurants.

* Blogs
Some bloggers provide recommendations, reviews and suggestions about new restaurants in town. But, it also provides limited information.

* Vertical search engine to search restaurants
These compile reviews from across the web. Users can also search by name, cuisine, occasion or location.

Of all the above options, vertical search engines are the best in finding good restaurants as they compile details from over a million online review sites to generate ratings of each and every restaurant based on its food, service and ambience. Is the Bubble About to Burst for Cheap Flights?

Travelling by plane has taken a knocking in the past year or two, with many “green” groups blaming airplanes for the declining state of our environment. However, since the dawn of time man has wished to soar the skies and explore foreign lands, something many of us do at least once a year.

And in recent years we have been able to get to these distant locations for relatively cheap, in recent years air travel prices to European cities have been touted as low as some rail fares back home! Places like Germany, Prague and Amsterdam all cost next to nothing these days and has seen many countries such as Bulgaria and Tunisia’s tourism trade skyrocket as a result of people being able to afford cheaper flights to new places for holidays. The best prices have been normally for domestic flights and the usual cheap flights to Spain and other common holiday destinations.

The only trouble is that with all the pressure on governments to reduce emissions it is unfortunately the airline industry that is being targeted for extra taxes in November 2009. This extra taxation is being applied in an attempt to discourage people from flying in favour of other methods of transport where possible (Ferry, Car, and Train).

The pressure has recently come to a head with last year extra duty tax being applied to flights, £10 for short haul flights, and £40 for long haul flights. This caused some annoyance to customers who had already booked flights who were faced with not being allowed to fly if they didn’t pay up the difference either online or at the check in desk in some extreme cases. British Airways supported it’s customers by putting up the money for the passengers already booked before the change, costing a considerable £11 Million in order to do so.

This year the Conservative party (normally known for appealing for tax cuts) proposed an argument to charge purchase tax on domestic flights, but this statement was met with some scepticism from one tour operator who believes that the government could easily extend this idea to all flights, meaning that passengers could end up paying 17.5% extra on their flights.

The main worry for holiday makers is that the recent period of cheap flights is due to end due to the government coming down like a ton of bricks on anything that the public discovers as being cheap. Others believe that with the pressure to appear environmentally friendly, aviation is going to pay the price. Despite the UK being one of the few to have met its commitments with regards to the Kyoto Agreement.
